Course Objectives
Students will
analyze a film for its purpose and evaluate the effectiveness of the film in completing that purpose
design a film that accomplishes the three purposes of film making
determine the narrative structure of a film and outline the structure
write a screenplay using a prescribed narrative structure
define a film genre by its purpose and components and provide examples from a catalogue of films
analyze a film for the point of view and determine how the camera was used to reveal the point of view
compare and contrast a film with its original source
adapt a novel into a screenplay complete with production notes
Grading Criteria
The grading of the course will consist of the cumulative points earned for various activities. These activities include:
